As the traditional school year comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your tremendous work this year. Anyone who works in education knows that every day is an adventure, every interaction with a student is an opportunity to inspire, and every moment of inspiration ripples throughout entire families and communities.

Janus decision plus one year adds up to a stronger union movement
June 27 marked the one-year anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's misguided decision in Janus v. AFSCME. While anti-union forces wanted and still want to use this case to weaken labor protections for public-sector employees, NYSUT has emerged from the past year stronger, more organized and ready to fight for our members. - Science teachers drew the last straw on this year's Regents exam schedule and worked into the wee hours this week to get exams graded on time. NYSUT and member activists are pushing to fix the schedule for next year.

Among the candidates who won their primaries on Tuesday were four candidates endorsed by Rochester city educators for the RCS board of ed and union-backed Lisa Chimera of Ken-Ton TA who won a primary on the Erie County Legislature.
